Take Time to Read MLK, So His Words Can Become Your Action!

You have to do more. We all have to do more! Time has shown that continuously living in snap judgments and instant gratification, in the illusion of visual pleasure has proven to be blindness of the worst kind. You can do more! As I was reading through Dr. King’s speeches this morning, I was humbled by his clarity and wisdom. I was disappointed that the world has not progressed further, that his words are still applicable! We can do more. We have to do more, and since I cannot say it better than Dr. King, I humbly step aside and quote his wisdom.

Please, don’t just click ‘like’ do something. Live your ‘likes.’ Take time to remember MLK. Below I have posted many quotes from this great man. Take 30 minutes. Read each quote slowly, pause where you see “….” Reflect and breathe, then read the next quote. Don’t rush, don’t hurry to like. Understand the principles and make them yours! Do more! We can all do more… – with love gratitude and humility, Dora

.....

In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

….. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

…. We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope. ……

Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase. ….. We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.

….. The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

….. We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.

….. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.

….. Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men.

….. Any religion that professes to be concerned about the souls of men and is not concerned about the slums that damn them, the economic conditions that strangle them and the social conditions that cripple them is a spiritually moribund religion awaiting burial.

…. History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people. ……. I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant. ….. An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity. ….. A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom. ….. I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for law.

……. A nation or civilization that continues to produce soft-minded men purchases its own spiritual death on the installment plan.”
